A little about us....
Deer Creek Pony Club is a member of the United States Pony Club, Inc., an educational non-profit organization for youth. Pony Club teaches horseback riding, mounted sports and the care of horses and ponies, therefore developing responsibility, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence. Pony Club is one of the leading junior equestrian organizations in the world, represented throughout 30 countries. Pony Club is a volunteer organization. Local clubs are made up of and run by volunteers. If it were not for a dedicated network of volunteers, there would be no Pony Club. It is not necessary for a child to own a horse or pony, but they must have access to one when required.
Deer Creek belongs to the Sierra Pacific Region of the United States Pony Club, which includes Northern California and Nevada. We meet regularly for mounted lessons during the spring, summer and fall at various local equestrian centers, including Starr Vaughn Equestrian Center and Dragonfire Farms. During the winter months we meet for our unmounted education program. Sponsors meet periodically throughout the year to discuss and vote on administrative issues. We currently have approximately eleven members.
USPC Mission:
The mission of the United States Pony Club (USPC) is “to provide a program for youth that teaches riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence.” Members of USPC have joined an organization dedicated to producing well-rounded horsemen and women and one that has produced many of the past and current Olympic and International riders.
USPC is unique because its educational programs place equal emphasis on the teaching of riding skills, horse-care fundamentals, and team participation with sportsmanship. From the moment youth join USPC until they graduate, they are part of a broad network of activities and educational programs that promote the health and safety of both horse and rider. USPC is dedicated to developing knowledgeable, competent, responsible, and caring horsemen.
